Editor, Daily Nexus,

Thousands of small animals and plants, including trees, will be bulldozed and replaced by a huge complex of cement and asphalt if Measure D is passed by Isla Vista voters. Estero Park – the planned location for the 22,000-square-foot project – is a very pleasant oasis of open space and greenery. Why destroy it to provide services, like rental meeting rooms and a low-cost child care facility, that already exists for residents?

Estero Park currently has many well-used recreational facilities such as Frisbee golf, a playing field, basketball courts, community gardens, a playground and a nice teen center.

To allow a massive concrete and asphalt complex to be built by and for outsiders on our park will destroy what we have there now. Please vote no on Measure D.
