A pair of assailants armed with knives attacked two men at a Goleta residence Sunday evening, leaving both victims with stab wounds.

Senior Deputy Tim Gracey of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Dept. said 22-year-old Ramon Jesus Angel and 24-year-old Michael Joseph Rivera were playing pool in the backyard at 4657 Tajo Dr. at about 8:20 p.m. when the suspects assaulted them. Gracey said the suspects stabbed Rivera in his back and arm and inflicted a life-threatening stomach wound on Angel before fleeing the scene in an unknown vehicle.

Friends then transported Angel and Rivera to Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, Gracey said. Hospital personnel said Rivera was discharged from medical care yesterday, but Angel was transferred to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s intensive care unit early Monday morning and remains in serious condition.

Gracey said Santa Barbara residents Martin Bueno, 26, and his brother Frankie Bueno, 20, are the chief suspects in the case. He said deputies with a search warrant went to the men’s home at 414 W. Canon Perdido, but the suspects were not there.

The sheriff’s department has issued no-bail arrest warrants for attempted murder for both Martin and Frankie Bueno. Pictures and descriptions of the two suspects are available at http://www.sbsheriff.org/wn/index.html, and Gracey said anyone who has information about their whereabouts is encouraged to contact the department’s detective bureau at (805) 681-4150.
