Environmental enthusiasts gathered at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Gardens yesterday to celebrate Earth Day with performances, demonstrations, and plenty of eco-friendly information.

The festival was organized by the Community Environmental Council (CEC), a nonprofit environmental association in Santa Barbara, and filled not only the grass courtyard of the Santa Barbara Courthouse, but also spread onto Anapamu Street from Santa Barbara to Anacapa Streets. An estimated 5,000 to 7,000 people visited the festival over the course of the day from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
