On Saturday, the #11 UCSB women’s water polo team will play #20 Cal Baptist University at Campus Pool at noon.

Last week, the Gaucho women watched the Cal Baptist Lancers play during the UC San Diego Tournament and realized this will be a tough game. The women have been practicing hard in order to assure that they will be victorious.

“It will be a good game against Cal Baptist,” junior utility Katy Kunkel said. “We have been practicing hard all week.”

The girls are planning to compete with power in both their offense and defense.

“We have been working in practice on how to shut down their defense, as well as the offensive plays that we will be running against them,” freshman two-meter offense Lindsay Llewellyn said.

Cal Baptist’s overall record is 4-4, which includes a loss to #12 UC Davis. The Gaucho women beat UC Davis 9-7 last weekend at the UC San Diego Tournament and currently have an overall record of 5-2.

“We are all really excited and pumped up to go out there and play our best,” Llewellyn said.
