Thursday 1/22
It’s always quite a feat when a guy can really sing, but it’s even more amazing when his vocals can also pass as a girl’s in the same song. The lyrically blessed indie-rockers Coheed and Cambria are sure to play an epic set tonight at 8 at the Coach House North, located at 110 South Santa Barbara St. They will be performing along with Bear vs. Shark, Jamisonparker and Vaux[[ok]]. Call 965-0789 for more info. Look out because the Alcoholics (aka the Liks) are taking over Santa Barbara and they’re gettin’ sloppy. Come on down to Bar Absinthe, located at 500 Anacapa St., tonight at 10 to see the lyrically gifted L.A.-based underground hip hop group. Call 965-5057 for more info.

Friday 1/23
Mind if Artsweek steps up on the soapbox for a sec? The “Dead Kennedys” will be performing tonight at the Coach House North, along with 2cents, In Control, Missing 23rd and Pop Narcotic. Please notice, though, the quote marks around “Dead Kennedys.” That’s because former lead singer Jello Biafra won’t be there and is entrenched in a lawsuit with his former bandmates. Artsweek just wanted to give you the heads-up so that if you’re a longtime fan, you’ll be prepared for a different lead singer. For more info, call 882-1077. If you’re a fan of jazz legend John Coltrane and his quartet, then of course you know pianist McCoy Turner joined the group at the tender age of 22. See him perform tonight at 8 in the Lobero Theatre, 33 East Canon Perdido St. Tix are $30-$40. Call 963-0761 for more info.

Saturday 1/24
