On behalf of the College Republicans at UCSB, I would like to thank the Women’s Center for finding someone to debate Phyllis Schlafly. It is disappointing that it took so much effort to find a debate partner in light of the fact that the administration does nothing to help foster different opinions on campus.

I would also like to invite everyone to attend the debate between Schlafly and Anita Perez Ferguson on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Engineering I lecture hall, room 1104. Ferguson has served as the president of the National Women’s Political Caucus and ran as a Democrat from California for the House of Representatives in 1990 and 1992.

Schlafly and Ferguson will discuss feminism in today’s society.
