Starting June 11, Isla Vista residents will have a chance to get rid of old stuff and buy used stuff cheap.

Project Give will be in the I.V. Theater parking lot from 12 to 5 p.m. accepting donations of reusable clothes, books, furniture, kitchen ware and packaged food items for its annual yard sale. The sale will be held on June 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the I.V. Theater parking lot.

“In terms of this furniture being averted from the dump, it’s a great success,” said Diane Conn, an I.V. Recreation and Park District director. “It’s a great service.”

Any items that are not sold will be given to St. Vincent de Paul, a charity from the Los Angeles area. Local charities will also benefit, with proceeds going to several groups including the I.V. Youth Project.

Catherine Boyer, director of the I.V./UCSB Community Services Center is organizing the project, with help from student coordinators Miguel Lopez and Denise Aceves, and volunteers from I.V.
