Four people were injured Friday afternoon when their car flipped over and rolled off Highway 1 just south of Highway 246.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Dept. and engines from the Lompoc Fire Dept. responded at 4:03 p.m. to a report of a single vehicle off the roadway.

Charlie Johnson, SB County Fire Dept. spokesman, said firefighters found the car upside down with four people trapped inside.

“Firefighters used the jaws to open the car up and extricate the injured parties,” Johnson said. “They were transferred to area hospitals.”

Johnson said the county fire department was very busy over the weekend responding to a total of 87 incidents. Nine incidents involved fires, 60 involved medical assistance, three involved reports of hazardous conditions and 15 calls required public assistance.
