The UCSB men’s basketball team travels to San Luis Obispo today to face Cal Poly at 5:30 p.m. in Mott Gym. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net 2.

The Gauchos, who have won eight of their last nine games, hope to sweep the season series against their coastal rivals and Big West adversaries, after defeating the Mustangs 70-61 on Jan. 25 at the Thunderdome.

Santa Barbara, at 13-10 and 10-3 in conference games, will try to steal a victory on the road. Overcoming early season jitters earlier in the season, UCSB has won three of its last four on the road. The Gauchos have stopped Irvine, Cal State Northridge and Pacific. The only setback in the last four games was a one-point demoralizing setback at Long Beach State on Feb. 1.

Cal Poly (11-11, 7-6) has won two straight games on the road against Northridge and Pacific by a combined six points. Junior forward Varnie Dennis leads the Mustangs with 17.2 points and 7.4 rebounds a game. Junior guard Shane Schilling averages 13.6 ppg and senior guard Jason Allen drops 11.8 ppg. Third-year Head Coach Kevin Bromley guides Cal Poly.
