On Jan. 22, the 30th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion, the Daily Nexus published a provocative advertisement sponsored by Feminists for Life of America, a group based in Washington, D.C. The ad implies that women who become pregnant against their wishes see infants as “the enemy” due to the work of abortion rights advocates.

However, reproductive rights advocates are committed to defending legislation that recognizes women’s moral and legal right to determine whether and when to become pregnant. In addition to supporting contraceptive education and services, reproductive rights advocates actively support pregnant women and parenting women and men.

At UCSB, services are available for pregnant and parenting students, including assistance with housing, day care and social support.
