Former UCSB women’s basketball stars Kayte Christensen and Stacy Clinesmith, both current players in the Women’s National Basketball Association, will be honored on “WNBA Night” before Saturday’s home game against Idaho.

Christensen and Clinesmith will meet fans in the Thunderdome lobby before the 7 p.m. contest against Big West Conference foes the Vandals. The former Gauchos will also be honored for their accomplishments with the storied women’s basketball program at Santa Barbara.

Both players will be available after the contest to sign autographs and take pictures on the floor.

Christensen, drafted in the third round and 40th overall, became the lowest-drafted player in the league to make an active roster on opening night with the Phoenix Mercury. Christensen shot 50.5 percent, fifth among all players in the WNBA.

Clinesmith, a four-year starting point guard at UCSB from 1996-2000, completed her first season with the Detroit Shock in 2002 after spending two years with the Sacramento Monarchs.
