Centuries ago, men and women were shown the implements of torture and given a chance to confess their sins before being tried and burned at the stake.
The tradition still exists, but today it is called the “icebreaker,” and it is used primarily by TAs. The implements include questions like “What is your favorite ocean?” and “Do you speak English?”
Icebreakers also include giving out names and phone numbers to creepy people in the seats next to you.
Friday’s forecast: The torture may be over, but the creepy guy will still be calling you.
