Russell Bryant Lester, a 21-year-old UCSB junior and member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, was arrested by Isla Vista Foot Patrol deputies on various drug-related charges on May 18.

Lester was charged with violating three health and safety codes – possession of dangerous drugs, transportation of dangerous drugs and manufacturing dangerous drugs – and one penal code, possession of stolen property.

Although Lester was released on $20,000 bail, he was re-arrested May 19 for resisting arrest. Because the case is still being investigated, IVFP Lt. Russ Birchim declined to explain why officers re-arrested Lester.

“After getting out of jail, he did something that brought him back to our attention,” Birchim said. “He was located at that point, and he resisted arrest.”

Lester could not be reached for comment.
