To Martin Doyle and all other members of Legislative Council,

We at A.S. Queer Commission are strongly appalled by the ignorance behind Martin Doyle’s comments regarding “lesbian pornography” at the Leg Council meeting on Feb. 6. Although we understand his right to freedom of speech and expression, we feel that his comments reflect a lack of understanding about queer issues in UCSB’s student government. So not only are we demanding an apology to A.S. Women’s Commission, A.S. Queer Commission and queer-identified faculty, staff and students on this campus, but we are also extending to Legislative Council the opportunity to learn about “lesbian pornography” and other queer issues in an educational and respectful forum.
