Terrence Short was arrested on a charge of shooting and killing a male on Monday night at a residence in Goleta. He will be arraigned on one murder count this morning.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Police responded to a 911 call from 861Vereda Del Ciervo at about 8 p.m. on Jan. 28. The caller advised dispatch personnel that someone had been killed inside the residence, according to Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Dept. Lt. Jim Dollar.

“Upon arrival, deputies found a male subject deceased inside the residence from apparent gunshot wounds to the head,” he said. “It appears there were multiple [wounds] but you can’t tell.”

Investigators questioned two subjects at the residence, one of which was Short. He was arrested with no bail.

Dollar said the initial investigation also entailed a forensic crime scene examination. Sheriff’s Dept. detectives are continuing their investigation.

An autopsy will be scheduled for sometime this week, and the victim’s name will be released after his next of kin is notified.
