Sheriff’s deputies received a 911 call at approximately 11:57 a.m. Wednesday regarding an armed robbery at Solvang Mid-State Bank.

A white adult male approximately 25 to 30 years old entered the bank through the front entrance. The suspect, who reportedly possessed a black or blue steel-colored semi-automatic handgun, approached a female teller and demanded money. The teller did not react. The suspect then jumped the counter and approached another female teller who filled a gray-colored backpack with an undisclosed amount of money. Witnesses indicate that the suspect exited the bank and fled on a scooter or skateboard.

The suspect was described as wearing green overalls or a jumpsuit. He was also wearing dark sunglasses and a white facemask covering his nose and mouth. The suspect’s head was covered with a red bandana. All of the employees and customers in the bank were uninjured.

Sheriff’s deputies believe they may have located the suspect’s green overalls in the underground parking area of the Petersen Inn, but the suspect is still at large.
