The UCSB women’s water polo team enjoyed a successful Easter weekend playing in the Long Beach Invitational. In the first day of action, Santa Barbara topped Cal Baptist, 8-4, and Santa Cruz , 11-4, but came up short against San Diego State, losing 8-7. On day two, the Gauchos came out on fire, trouncing Irvine, 9-5. After playing four games in under 48 hours, a tired UCSB squad then fell to USC, 10-5, and San Diego, 7-6. After going 3-2 in the two-day tournament, Santa Barbara carries an overall record of 12-12, including 4-4 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The Gauchos head back into action Wednesday afternoon against Loyola Marymount. Check out Thursday’s Sports section to see how Santa Barbara handles the Lions.
