The Isla Vista resident found dead Saturday morning has been identified as 22-year-old UCSB communication major Brandon Colin Schmidt from Alameda County. According to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kelly Hoover, police confirmed Schmidt was deceased after his roommate found him unresponsive in his apartment on the 6600 block of Del Playa and contacted Isla Vista Foot Patrol. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office is currently investigating the cause of death, but results will not be determined until after a toxicology report is completed in four-to-six weeks.
