The Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to a significant increase in crime throughout the weekend due to Deltopia, issuing 88 citations and making 27 arrests.

Deputies received a report of a fight between several males on the corner of Sabado Tarde Road and Camino del Sur at 11:35 p.m. on Friday. According to IVFP Lt. Ray Vuillemainroy, the suspect taunted the group prior to the attack.

“The suspect was challenging several males to a fight and making masturbation gestures with his hands,” Vuillemainroy said. “He was drunk, so he was arrested.”

The IVFP searched three males who were loitering near the corner of Embarcadero Del Norte and Trigo Road at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, discovering drugs on one of the individuals.

“Deputies observed two males standing inside a parked car and one suspect standing outside it,” Vuillemainroy said. “Deputies made contact with the suspects and it turned out one suspect was on probation, so they performed a search and found heroin and related drug paraphernalia. The suspects were arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of heroin.”
