The Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to a burglary and several alcohol-related crimes this weekend.

Deputies responded to a report of an attempted robbery on the 700 block of Embarcadero del Norte at 4:50 a.m. Friday. According to IVFP Lt. Ray Vuillemainroy, a male resident confronted several intruders attempting to enter his apartment.

“What happened was three male suspects entered into the male victim’s apartment and were wearing backpacks with nothing inside them,” Vuillemainroy said. “They said they were looking for their wallets, but the resident noticed their backpacks were empty and they looked nervous, and he told them they did not live there.”

Vuillemainroy said deputies arrested the suspects after they attempted to flee from the location.

“They left and the resident called the sheriff’s department and foot patrol,” Vuillemainroy said. “Basically it looked like they were going to burglarize the house and got caught.”

Officers also handled several alcohol-related crimes throughout the weekend, citing one person for an open container and another for a minor in possession.
