Ranked a full 42 places lower than  #11 Duke, UCSB upset the Blue Devils 2-0 on a drizzly night in front of a national television audience and11,242 fans at Harder Stadium.

With the win, the Gauchos improve to 7-3-2 and 7-1 in their last eight games.

After an even battle for possession throughout the first half, junior midfielder Danny Barrera broke the 0-0 tie, burying a cross from sophomore forward Michael Nonni in the 55th minute.

“I saw Danny coming across on the other side so I thought I’d just pop it over to him,” Nonni said. “It was an unbelievable finish by Danny.”

This match was the fourth and final game of UCSB’s current homestand, with the team going 4-0. The Gauchos have little time to rest, though, with a match against Big West foe UC Riverside on Sunday at 6 p.m.
