Students organize over UC mask policy in first Pro-Palestine rally of academic year

Students and members of pro-Palestine activist groups gathered at the library steps on Sept. 27 to call for an end to a new UC-wide policy that bans the use of face masks to conceal identity.

IVCSD rolls out new fees for community spaces reservations

The IVCSD has started charging a fee for community space rentals, a service that had otherwise been free up until Sept. 1. The board said the new charges will help balance its budget and cover janitorial services. 

A.S. hits pause on ethical spending bill

A bill passed by the Senate prohibiting student fees from being used to purchase from companies on the BDS list has been put on pause after initial plans to go into effect on July 1.

New A.S. policy bars students from using its funds on BDS listed companies

The Senate passed a bill on June 5 prohibiting its funds from being used to purchase from companies on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions list which went into effect on July 1.

Meal swipe rollovers, donations, sharing are coming to campus this fall

UC Santa Barbara is launching a pilot meal swipes rollover, donation and sharing program in the fall quarter. A random sample of 10% of meal swipe holders will be able to opt into the program.

Chancellor Yang to step down at end of academic year

Chancellor Henry T. Yang will step down from his role at the end of the 2024-25 academic year. Yang served as chancellor for 30 years, and plans to return to teaching and researching at UCSB.
