RCSGD hosts graduate student coffee hour
The Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (RCSGD) is hosting a Graduate Student Coffee Hour on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Graduate Student Association Lounge.
This event is a space for all queer and transgender graduate students to connect through conversation. Coffee and pastries will be provided.
OISS, Career Services hold Interstride, Global Career Platform Demo for International Students
The Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS) and Career Services are holding an Interstride, Global Career Platform Demo for International Students on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 12-1 p.m. over Zoom. Interstride is a platform with resources and tools designed to help international students.
“Interstride offers a wealth of resources tailored to meet the unique needs of students navigating the global job market. In honor of International Education Week,” the Shoreline description read.
The introductory demo will be hosted by Interstride staff. Students may register on Shoreline to receive the Zoom link.
A.S. Media Center hosts Photography Basics
The Associated Students Media Center and Creative Media Unit is hosting a Photography Basics workshop on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 3-4 p.m. at the Media Center Annex Building 434, room 141.
This event is open to anyone interested in learning the basics of photography. No personal gear is required to attend.
ECP holds “Planting Fruit Trees!” workshop
The Edible Campus Program (ECP) is holding a “Planting Fruit Trees!” workshop on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 3-4 p.m. at UCSB Family Student Housing Storke Community Gardens.
“Join us for an organic tree care and planning workshops for West Campus and Storke gardens! During these workshops, we will teach students and other residents about how to decide where to plant a fruit tree, how to plan for what the tree will shade, and how large the tree may be at full growth,” the Shoreline description read.
Attendees will have a chance to share their ideas about which fruit trees the gardens may purchase with a new grant. To attend, sign up through the link on Shoreline.
ONDAS Student Center hosts “Pizza & Knowledge: New Year, New You, Navigating Academic Difficulty”
The Opening New Doors to Accelerating Success (ONDAS) Student Center is hosting a “Pizza & Knowledge: New Year, New You, Navigating Academic Difficulty” event on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 3-4:30 p.m. at the ONDAS Student Center in Kerr Hall room 1150.
“Letters & Science Academic Advisors will provide guidance about Academic Notice (previously called academic probation), navigating your academic situation, and help you develop a plan for moving forward,” the Shoreline description read.
This event is in collaboration with the College of Letters & Science for all first-generation students. Pizza will be provided.
Health & Wellness holds “The Body Project Series Group 1”
Health & Wellness is holding “The Body Project Series Group 1” on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 4-5 p.m.
“The Body Project is a 4-week small group body acceptance program that provides a forum for women to confront unrealistic beauty ideals and engage in the development of healthy body image. This program has been found to improve body satisfaction, reduce the risk for eating disorders, and improve school and social functioning,” the Shoreline description read.
Students may register on Shoreline to attend. Those who sign up will automatically be registered for all four events that are a part of the series.

Health & Wellness is hosting “Wrap it Up: Tamale Study Jam” on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Student Resource Building (SRB) Multipurpose Room (MPR).
“De-stress and expand your kitchen skill set with us! Study for your midterms after learning to wrap a tamale, and then reward yourself with one after they’re done steaming!!” the Shoreline description read.

Transfer Student Center holds “Y2K Trivia Night!”
The Transfer Student Center is holding a “Y2K Trivia Night!” on Friday, Jan. 24, from 6-8 p.m. at the SRB MPR.
“Let’s test your knowledge about the iconic Y2K!! Join us for a 2000’s Trivia Night Mixer, hosted by the Transfer Student Center, Veterans & Military Services, and the Non-Traditional Student Resources Center,” the Shoreline description read.
Students may register on Shoreline to attend and tickets are limited to one per person. Food and trivia prizes will be provided. This event is intended for students over the age of 25.
ECP hosts “Nature’s Energy Boost: Crafting Homemade Electrolyte Drinks for Wellness”
ECP is hosting “Nature’s Energy Boost: Crafting Homemade Electrolyte Drinks for Wellness” on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the UCSB Greenhouse and Garden Project.
“Feeling drained? Recharge your mind and body at Nature’s Energy Boost! Join us for a fun and relaxing workshop where you’ll: Craft your own homemade electrolyte drinks with simple, natural ingredients. Learn how staying hydrated supports your well-being. Explore Take Back the Tap, an initiative promoting sustainable tap water use,” the Shoreline description read.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle and may register on Shoreline to attend.
RHA holds All Hall Brawl
Residential Housing Association (RHA) is holding an All Hall Brawl on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 1-5 p.m. at Robertson Gymnasium.
“Bring your A-game, your loudest cheers, and your competitive spirit! THIS IS YOUR MOMENT TO SHINE. Unite your halls, claim victory and of course, who doesn’t love winning,” the Shoreline description read.
This event is an opportunity for students to compete with residents of other residence halls to win the All Hall Brawl trophy and a food party.
Department of Recreation hosts BIPOC Climbing Night
The Department of Recreation is hosting a Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) Climbing Night on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Recreation Center climbing wall.
“Enjoy a night of climbing and socializing at the UCSB climbing wall! This event is for anyone who wants to learn how to climb, as well as for anyone who already climbs and is looking for a fun night of socializing and beta swapping!” the Shoreline description read.
This event is open to those of all climbing experience levels. Harnesses and shoes will be provided.

Health & Wellness is holding “Breathe with Me” on Monday, Jan. 27, from 3-3:30 p.m. at the Meditation Garden between the Library and Bioengineering building.
“Join us in the Meditation Garden for a break on your busy Monday! We will learn a breathing exercise and be guided in a short meditation. Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary,” the Shoreline description read.

RCSGD is hosting a Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous and People of Color (QTBIPOC) Community Dinner on Monday, Jan. 27, from 6-8 p.m.

Health & Wellness is hosting “Pass the Plate: Lucky Dumplings” on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 12-1:30 p.m. at the SRB MPR.
“Happy Year of the Snake! Celebrate Lunar New Year with Health & Wellness at our cooking workshop where you will learn how to make fresh dumplings and about how cultures across Asia celebrate this holiday,” the Shoreline description read.
