UC Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department have identified a cluster of three positive COVID-19 cases at an undisclosed sorority house in Isla Vista, according to a campus-wide emergency notification sent by the university on Thursday evening.
Contract tracing efforts are underway and the individuals who tested positive are in self isolation, according to the emergency notification.
As of April 20, there are nine active COVID-19 cases in I.V., according to the health department’s website.
I think if every time a household in Santa Barbara County had 3 cases had been announced, we’d have no other news reported. I don’t think UCSB has reported cases where their staff or faculty had 3 cases in their household. During the huge rise of Covid cases around Dec. 2020 – Jan. 2021, there were many. Not that it is ever good… it is not. It would just be nice if reporting were more uniform.
