Paramedics transported a 19-year-old male bicyclist to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on Friday night after colliding with a car in Isla Vista around 9 p.m. The bicyclist sustained serious injuries, including a possibly broken leg, according to California Highway Patrol public information officer Shannan Sams.
California Highway Patrol and American Medical Response paramedics arrived on the scene of the crash north of the intersection of Camino Del Sur and Sueño Road, according to Sams.
The 25-year-old male driver was heading north on Camino Del Sur at about 20 miles per hour when the bicyclist entered the street from a nearby driveway into the driver’s path.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this incident, according to Sams.
When you have a bunch of kids on bikes who don’t have any consideration for rules of the road (as required by law) or awareness of their surroundings and idiots who own cars and just barely learned to drive, it’s a recipe for Cottage Hospital to make money from their stupidity.
