The start of the school year is quickly approaching; move-in day is now weeks rather than months away. Whether you’ve been checking off items for your dorm since receiving your acceptance letter or still have yet to buy even your sheets, your favorite stores are bound to forget one very important thing: food. Dining meal plan or no dining meal plan, there will come a morning when you can’t get yourself out of bed in time for breakfast or are too busy to find a moment to leave your room. The food and drinks you keep in your room will prove just as important as the seat you choose in class; picking what suits your taste buds and habits is up to you now.

There are some things you can’t go wrong with in terms of what to keep in your dorm in a mini fridge — the freshmen essentials, if you will. Besides the obvious need for food, you’ll want something to snack on and pop in the microwave when you simply can’t be bothered to eat a real dinner. You can’t forget something to drink either because despite beach weather being advertised as cool or even chilly, that first month is bound to be more humid than anything.\

Aside from the more obvious items, there are those that, as the last of the ’90s kids, you won’t want to miss out on. Just because you’re leaving your childhood years behind doesn’t mean you can’t finally stock up on those snacks you used to have to beg your parents to buy. A taste of nostalgia is just what you need to embark on the next four years of college.
