A pedestrian was threatened with a gun during a robbery Sunday night on the 66 block of Del Playa Drive, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office (SBSO) said.
A male subject riding a light-colored fixie approached the pedestrian at approximately 8:30 p.m., displayed a handgun and demanded the pedestrian’s personal property, according to a police report that appeared in a university announcement email on Sunday night.
Police said the pedestrian gave the male subject his wallet, and then the male subject fled northbound from Del Playa Drive on his bike.
SBSO describes the subject as a Hispanic male, 20-25 years old and approximately 5’7” in height with a thin build. He was wearing a grey shirt and dark pants at the time of the crime, police said.
Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly said the pedestrian was allegedly robbed at “gunpoint.” Police said the male subject “displayed a handgun,” but they did not say that the male subject pointed the gun at the pedestrian.
