A UC Santa Barbara student died on campus Sunday in what appears to be a suicide, according to UC police.
Police responded to a call at Santa Cruz Residence Hall at approximately 4 p.m. They confirmed at approximately 8:30 p.m. that a student resident had died.
UCPD Sgt. Dan Wilson said the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and the UCPD are currently conducting a joint investigation into the incident.
Sheriff’s office spokesperson Kelly Hoover said Monday that “no foul play is suspected.”
Officers will not release the identity of the student until they notify the next of kin.
