Over 800 people attended the 20th annual Western Regional Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex & Allies College Conference at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo this weekend.

Both UCSB swim teams went in to the final day of the Big West Championships on Saturday with their sights set on defending their championships. Unfortunately, when the day ended and the meet was over, the men’s and women’s teams both found themselves in second place. The women finished with a total of 852 points, just 12 behind winner UC Davis, while the men ended with 896.5 points, 62 points behind UC Davis, who had a record-setting 958.5 points.

The Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to an assault on a deputy this weekend, in addition to several burglaries and vandalisms.
Sophomore center Somogyi set a school record with eight blocked shots, and sophomore guard Orlando Johnson broke out for a game-high 23 points as visiting UC Santa Barbara (16-8 overall, 10-3 Big West) defeated Fresno State (13-15 overall, 6-7 Western Athletic Conference) 64-60 in a nonconference matchup on Saturday night. The win is UCSB’s fifth straight victory in a streak that includes four games on the road.
The women’s tennis team split a pair of matches over the weekend, falling to the University of Denver 4-1 before recovering against the University of Wyoming 5-2.
