A group of sorority sisters receives threatening calls from a mysterious caller on Christmas Eve in Bob Clark’s “Black Christmas.” Recognized by many as the first slasher film (predating John Carpenter’s “Halloween” by four years), this Canadian gem is one of the best of its kind. It’s creepy and atmospheric throughout, but its chilling ending is what really distinguishes itself from the countless imitators that have followed over the last 30-something years.
