Editor, Daily Nexus,

During the past few days I have become aware of the lawn signs asking students to support Arts & Lectures. I have just heard from a friend, who is one of the persons responsible for their programming, that students are being asked to commit $2 per quarter for Arts & Lectures support.

From my own experience as a student long ago, I felt and still feel that such programs provide very valuable personal enrichment, complementary to other important student experiences.

I wish that some of the $70 billion that will pay for the first phase of the war in Iraq could be available for meritorious domestic purposes. But who is not aware that public funds continue to shrink? So, in the real world, I hope that students will decide to say yes to the request of Arts & Lectures.
