Editor, Daily Nexus,

After standing in the treacherous reader line at Grafikart the other day, I stepped on my bike, opened my backpack and threw on my headphones. As I attempted to bike across the street, an I.V. Foot Patrol officer who smiled at me stopped me.

I took off my headphones and was greeted with a not so cheery message. The end result was a yellow slip of paper, an envelope and an extremely rude awakening. California Vehicle Code Section 27400: “No person operating any motor vehicle or bicycle shall wear any headset covering. …” It makes sense, but who knew? I respect the regard for my safety, but if would have known about the law, I would have kept my backpack closed.

Just a warning to everyone.
