Model Drunk

At approximately 10:50 p.m. on Friday, September 21, Isla Vista Foot Patrol officers patrolling the 6600 block of Del Playa Drive observed a 22-year-old female walk out of an apartment holding a cup of alcohol. The officers approached the suspect and noticed she had a scrape on her knee. When officers asked about the scrape, she said she did not remember where it came from. She then admitted to being drunk and thanked the officers for approaching her and placing her under arrest.

The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail, where she was housed pending sobriety.

Who’s Your Daddy?

At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, IVFP officers patrolling the 6600 block of Del Playa approached an 18-year-old male holding a pint glass filled with beer.

When officers contacted the suspect, he quickly put his glass on the ground. The officers asked the suspect if he had any identification on him. The suspect said, “No, but I live next door. Do you want me to go get it?” The officer asked him to stay and provide his name and date of birth. The suspect said his name was “Daniel Jacob Davis” and he was born on “2-18-79.” The officers ran a record check through dispatch and found no match. The officers again asked the suspect if he provided correct information and the suspect nodded. The officers decided to pat down the suspect and found a California ID card stating that the suspect was 25 years old. The suspect was again asked for his date of birth and the suspect said, “2-19-70.” When the officer heard “70,” he looked at the suspect and waited. The suspect realized his mistake and said, “80, sorry.”

The officer thought the suspect was lying and decided to take him into custody. As the officer was putting one handcuff on the suspect, he became very angry and said, “What are you doing?” The officer told the suspect he was being placed under arrest for giving a false name to a police officer. The suspect tensed up his arms and had to be pinned against the fence in order to have the other handcuff placed on him. The suspect yelled, “My dad is a district attorney and he’s three levels higher than you. He’s going to get you fired!”

The suspect was issued a citation for providing false information to a police officer and for being minor in possession.

So Where Do You Sleep?

At approximately 1:57 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, IVFP officers patrolling the 6600 block of Del Playa heard “the sound of urination” from the northwest corner of a residence. The officers shined their flashlight in the direction of the sound and observed a 20-year-old male urinating on a plastic recycling bin while holding a can of Bud Light. The officers asked the suspect why he was urinating there and he said, “I didn’t have anywhere else to go.”

The suspect was issued a citation for urinating in public and possession of an open container.

Getting Pushy

At approximately 10:52 a.m. on Friday, September 21, IVFP officers patrolling the corner of Camino Pescadero Road and Sabado Tarde Road observed a 20-year-old male held up by two other males in the street. The suspect began to yell at the crowd in the roadway. Officers contacted the suspect and asked why he was yelling in the crowd. The suspect said he was upset because “someone pushed [him] into the ground.”

The suspect had slurred speech and could not stand upright without assistance. Officers did not see anyone push the suspect down.

The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was housed pending sobriety.
