Editor, Daily Nexus:

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the Nexus for this week’s fair and thorough coverage of David Horowitz’s speaking event this week, as well as the other events his ideas stimulated, such as Wednesday night’s faculty panel. It was refreshing and inspiring to see such a thoughtful and mature representation of ideas; I hope this type of coverage of all political views on this campus will continue in the future.

I would also like to thank the various groups who took the time to plan and implement Wednesday’s events. Universal freedom of speech is an inherent American liberty, which should be protected at all costs – I was pleased to see students, faculty and members of the community expressing this freedom in so many respectful and courteous ways. No matter the perceived extremity of our social or political ideologies, it is crucial that everyone has a fair chance to be heard. Thanks again to all of the participants who allowed both sides to be heard this week. I look forward to similar future events.
