Jump for Joy … or Jail

At approximately 12:17 a.m. on Sunday, May 27, Isla Vista Foot Patrol officers patrolling the 6600 block of Del Playa Drive observed a 22-year-old male jumping up and down in the middle of the street while waving his hands in the air.

The suspect was also yelling, “Fuck the coppers!” The officer noticed the suspect’s mannerisms were aggressive as if he wanted to instigate a fight. Based on the suspect’s actions, the officers determined he was a danger to himself or others.

The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was housed pending sobriety.

While in the transport vehicle, the suspect asked the officers, “I know I’m drunk, but am I in trouble?”

About a Girl

At approximately 1:48 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, IVFP officers patrolling the 6600 block of Abrego Road observed an 18-year-old male sitting on a street curb with his face in a pool of vomit.

The officers contacted the suspect to check on his welfare. When the officers asked the suspect’s name and if he was all right, the suspect did not respond and proceeded to vomit. The officers again asked the victim if he was all right, but the suspect did not respond. Approximately 10 seconds later, the suspect vomited again. The suspect had vomit on his pants and shirt.

When the suspect was brought to his feet, he was unable to maintain his balance without the help of the officers. The suspect was transported to the IVFP station. While at the station the suspect became more coherent and told the officers he had too much to drink because he was upset about a girl.

The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was housed pending sobriety.

Lost and Found

At approximately 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 27, IVFP officers received a complaint from a resident of an apartment complex on the 6600 block of Picasso Road, regarding a 20-year-old male suspect who was knocking on doors and urinating in the courtyard of the complex.

The officers located a man who matched the description of the suspect on the 6600 block of Abrego. Upon contact with officers, the suspect said he was lost and was unable to state where he was staying.

The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was housed pending sobriety.

Escort Service?

At approximately 12:35 a.m. on Sunday, May 27, IVFP officers patrolling the 6600 block of Del Playa observed a 23-year-old male standing in the middle of the street with his shirt off. The suspect was unable to maintain his balance.

When the officers contacted the suspect, they noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath and person. The suspect could not maintain his balance or walk without assistance from the deputies.

While the officers were questioning the suspect he said, “I know I’ve had too much to drink, but can’t you just walk me home?”

The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was housed pending sobriety.
