If you’re looking to take a break from that finals grind, Dave’s Dogs will surely hit the spot. I’ve always wanted to try the hot dogs here because of the fun combinations of hot dog toppings and the wide variety of savory bites. I finally got to visit last Friday, and though I expected there to be a lot of people, it wasn’t very crowded and the employees were quick to take our order and serve us our food.

I ordered the Santa Barbara-style Hot Dog, which comes with bacon, grilled onions, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup, cream sauce, avocado, cilantro and mustard. They have almost 20 different types of hot dogs, including a Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese Dog and a Taco Dog, which is what my friend ordered. Their hot dogs come with just a regular hot dog bun and beef sausage, but they have alternatives like veggie, turkey, polish, hot link or bratwurst sausages. The Santa Barbara-style Hot Dog was really savory, and each bite definitely packed a punch with all its delicious flavors. I especially liked that they didn’t skimp out on any of the condiments, but it may have been a little too much since my hot dog bun broke halfway through and everything started to fall apart. Regardless, it was extremely tasty and I’d definitely recommend it.

We also tried their fries, which were nicely crisp, making it the perfect addition to our meal. They have a bunch of different small bites and grub, like loaded tater tots, pizza fries, deep-fried pickles and corn on the cob, which I’d really like to try the next time I visit Dave’s Dogs. Everything on the menu was reasonably priced, which is ideal for college students. Overall, this spot is definitely a must-try because you can’t get anything like it in I.V., and it’s the perfect place to relax and treat yourself to a quick and delicious meal.
