If you are anything like me, then you are constantly craving sweets. Unfortunately, as the quarter picks up and we rapidly approach midterms, there’s no time to indulge in ice cream from I.V. Drip or churros from Costco to satisfy those sweet cravings. Instead, I have to turn to my own cupboards when finding ways to satisfy this sweet tooth. One recipe that always fills the sugary void in my heart (and stomach) is a microwavable brownie in a mug.

This recipe only takes about five minutes, which means you can enjoy a cup of chocolatey perfection on the way to your next class or between study sessions. These brownies need six ingredients which are so common that you probably already have them on your shelves. Another upside to this delicious dish is that the recipe is simple to follow and is perfect for someone who loves eating sweets, but isn’t the best at baking them. While we’re still in the calm before the storm of midterms, now is a perfect time to cuddle up with your favorite mug and warm brownie recipe.

The end result is a rich and sugary treat that has a dense, cake-like texture. It tastes very chocolatey, so be sure to have a glass of milk nearby.

Ingredients:
4 tbs flour
4 tbs sugar
2 tbs cocoa powder
2 tbs water
2 tbs oil (vegetable or canola)
½ tsp vanilla extract

Directions
1. Grab a microwave-safe mug. Pour in flour, sugar and cocoa.
2. Next, add in water, oil and vanilla extract. Using a spoon, mix this until it has a rich, creamy texture. Microwave for one minute and wait to cool.
3. Serve with a side of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat. Enjoy!
