Society of Cosmetic Chemists hosts Pop-Up Market
The UC Santa Barbara chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists is hosting a pop-up market on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lot 22 Lawn.
“Vendors will be displaying their creations in efforts to fundraise for Society of Cosmetic Chemists,” the Shoreline poster read.
Women’s Center hosts ‘Sip and See: Spirits and Stigma’
The Women’s Center is hosting “Sip and See: Spirits and Stigma” on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Women’s Center lounge room in the Student Resource Building (SRB).
“Learn about the divination practice that uses the patterns left by coffee grounds to interpret one’s future. Explore the rich history of coffee cup readings as they have traditionally been performed by Armenian women. Come take a sip of Armenian coffee and have your fortune revealed!” the Shoreline description read.
Participants will be able to try traditional Armenian coffee, Soorj and “experience the practice that bond Armenian women together.”
UCSB Library hosts ‘Hallowzine Crafting Night’
The UCSB Library is hosting “Hallowzine Crafting Night” on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5-7 p.m. in the Makerspace Workshop Commons.
“Zines (pronounced “zeens,” short for magazines) are small, self-published booklets created and distributed by individuals or small groups,” the event description read. “Think of it as a creative way to confront the things that truly scare us, whether they’re monsters hiding in the dark or anxieties that keep you up at night,” the library website read.
Supplies will be provided for participants.
TASA hosts ‘Camp TASA Game Night’
The Taiwanese American Student Association (TASA) is hosting “Camp TASA Game Night” on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the SRB Multipurpose Room.
“Come join us for some cozy, camping-themed challenges & board games at our pickup event!” the Shoreline description read.
Hot chocolate will be provided for attendees.
IHC hosts screening of ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’
The Interdisciplinary Humanities Center (IHC) is hosting a screening of the film “Kiki’s Delivery Service” on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 8-10 p.m. at the Isla Vista Theater.
“‘Along with her black cat Jiji, Kiki settles in a seaside town and starts a high-flying delivery service. Here begins her magical encounter with independence and responsibility, making lifelong friends and finding her place in the world,’” the Shoreline description read.
The event is free for students and $5 for community members.
Surplus Sales hosts ‘Surplus Clothing & Halloween Sale’
Surplus Sales is hosting “Surplus Clothing & Halloween Sale” on Friday, Oct. 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Pardall Tunnel Greenspace.
“We will be featuring a wide variety of pieces from pants and vests to dresses, all curated from UCSB’s Theater and Dance costume shop. Whether you are searching for a costume, a unique outfit for dressing up, or simply some standout vintage pieces, this pop-up has something for everyone,” the Shoreline description read.
The event will reoccur on Friday, Oct. 31.
UCSB Sustainability hosts ‘Finding Calm in the Overwhelm’
UCSB Sustainability is hosting “Finding Calm in the Overwhelm” on Friday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“This powerful meditative practice is good for sorting through thoughts/emotions, calming the mind, and connecting to a safe space within yourself. All experience levels are welcome, from beginners to experts,” the Shoreline description read.
Students can fill out a Google Form to register.
RCSGD hosts ‘Bi Us For Us: Paint Night!’
The Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (RCSGD) is hosting “Bi Us For Us: Paint Night!” on Friday, Oct. 24, from 3:30-5 p.m.
“Mirror, mirror on my phone, who’s the baddest? Us, hello! Come meet other bi+ baddies at this social paint night event. We’ll be decorating mirrors and chatting, but be sure to arrive on time– there’s a limited stock of mirrors! (and unlimited canvases :p),” the Shoreline description read.
Students can register on Shoreline for the location. Food will be provided.
Department of Recreation hosts ‘Hallowheels’
The Department of Recreation is hosting “Hallowheels” on Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the Recreation Center.
“Roll on out to the Recreation Center this Halloween and join UCSB Recreation, Health & Wellness, Life of the Party (LOTP), Woodstock’s, The Point Market, and SB Independent for Hallowheels 2025! Enjoy roller skating, pumpkin painting, silent disco, photo booth, costume contests, free pizza and candy, a spooky movie, s’mores, cornhole, and more!” the Shoreline description read.
The event is free for all students, and food will be provided.
Arts & Lectures hosts ‘Blind Boys of Alabama with special guest Cory Henry’
Arts & Lectures is hosting “Blind Boys of Alabama with special guest Cory Henry” on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at Campbell Hall.
“Two Grammy-winning forces of gospel and soul unite for one unforgettable night of Hammond B3 funk, soul-stirring harmonies and deep spiritual feeling,” the Shoreline description read.
The event costs $15 for UCSB students and $48-63 for the general public.
UCSB Sustainability hosts ‘Grown Your Own Groceries’
UCSB Sustainability is hosting “Grow Your Own Groceries” on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 3-4 p.m. at St. Michael’s Community Garden.
“Ready to start your own garden plot, but don’t know where to begin? Join us for Starter Plots 101! Learn the basics of soil prep, plot layout, and companion planting, then get your hands dirty with some real planting. No experience needed!” the Shoreline description read.
Students can register for the event via a Google Form.

The IHC is hosting a screening of the film “Jennifer’s Body” on Monday, Oct. 27, from 8-10 p.m. at the Isla Vista Theater.
“Join us for the screening of this 2009 spooky classic, starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried where ‘A newly-possessed high-school cheerleader turns into a succubus who specializes in killing her male classmates. Can her best friend put an end to the horror?’” the Shoreline description read.
