Detectives from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office found the body of the missing Friendship Manor resident, Sonia Lang Crestfield, on July 22. Crestfield had been missing for roughly a week and a half.

According to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, 85-year-old Crestfield was found in the Goleta Slough area around 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The Goleta Slough is a wetland located near the Santa Barbara Airport. 

Crestfield was last seen near Friendship Manor, the retirement community in Isla Vista, on July 11. Her family reported her missing the following Monday, on July 14. 

Authorities are still investigating Crestfield’s cause of death, although it does not appear suspicious at this time.
