David Marshall, the executive vice chancellor of UC Santa Barbara, will serve as the interim chancellor starting July 15. Chancellor Henry T. Yang will step down on July 14, bringing his 31-year tenure to a close.

Earlier today, outgoing University of California (UC) President Michael V. Drake named Marshall the interim chancellor until UC administrators select a permanent chancellor. The search for the next chancellor has been extended as the decision was tentatively set to be finalized this spring.
Marshall has been the executive vice chancellor of UCSB since 2014 and is also a distinguished professor of English and comparative literature. He was previously the Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts at UCSB for 16 years and the executive dean of the College of Letters and Science from 2005 to 2012.
“David [Marshall] has led major campus initiatives in academic planning, faculty diversity, undergraduate education, and interdisciplinary research,” an email statement read. “His deep experience, institutional knowledge, and longstanding partnership with Chancellor Yang position him exceptionally well to guide UCSB during this transitional period.”
In November 2024, Drake announced a search advisory committee for the next chancellor. According to the Santa Barbara Independent, earlier this year, the committee submitted 10 people for Drake to review. He reportedly vetted five people, but no one has been submitted to the UC Board of Regents to vote on so far.
“The search for the next permanent Chancellor remains actively underway. We are committed to identifying an outstanding leader who will carry forward UCSB’s legacy of excellence and take it to new heights,” the statement continued. “We will continue to update you as the search progresses.”
Drake also expressed his gratitude to Yang for “his remarkable leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence.” Yang is the longest-serving chancellor in UC history.
“Since his appointment in 1994, Chancellor Yang has shaped UCSB into one of the premier public research universities in the world. Under his visionary guidance, the campus has seen historic growth in academic achievement, research prominence, and global reputation,” the statement read.
UCSB and the UC at large are currently undergoing significant leadership changes. In May, James B. Milliken was appointed as the next UC president, and S. Jack Hu was named as the next chancellor of UC Riverside. At UCSB, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Margaret Klawunn and Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Life & Belonging Katya Armistead retired at the end of the 2024-25 academic year.

Interesting that Edhat hasn’t posted this story even though the other UCSB Mafia Satellite Media outlets, Noozhawk, Independent, Daily Nexus, etc., have. I think it might have something to do with Edhat having a comments section and the others not ever since UCSB Mafia had them take them down when I got close to destroying UCSB Mafia with words. Even the greatest forum for free speech ever, Craigslist Rants & Raves, has been rendered totally useless for transmitting information. I wonder what UCSB Mafia knows about David Marshall that they don’t want anyone else knowing or speculating about. Is David… Read more »
How fitting that a Zionist Jew is installed as Chancellor of the unaccountable UCSB Mafia organization in sync with the whore President of ZOG ordering goyslop-fed zogbots to serve their Master, the most abominably wicked of nations, Israel, to probably commence a period of unprecedented violence and terrorism on the people of this country. Would anyone be very surprised if by the end of the week, a country-wide electrical blackout was happening? Or a series of shocking explosions, perhaps at crowded American theme parks. Or a drone attack on a packed baseball stadium. Or the coordinated ignition of the entire… Read more »
Folks, It’s as mysterious to me as it probably is to you that I’m allowed to post messages here. I’ve been silenced for so long that I almost always post knowing that my message will either be banned or shadow banned and I often do so simply to sort my thoughts in my head. I’m not sure what is going on. Either someone is asleep at the switch or, more hopefully, the Daily Nexus has finally got an Editor in Chief with courage. Regardless, I am grateful for the ability to communicate. I’d like to take the opportunity to assure… Read more »
Edhat finally posted the press release for David Marshall becoming alleged interim Chancellor of UCSB Mafia but they didn’t allow any comments and the story was on their main page for only one day. You can find it if you search but there’s no link posted on the main page. All unprecedented. UCSB Mafia wants no public discussion of the strange goings-on at UCSB. No university in the history of the world has betrayed the human species and TRUTH more than UCSB. It is an unaccountable criminal mafia organization that regularly violates the law with impunity.
Isn’t it amazing? All of that Internet power. All of those media outlets. And nowhere to comment where formerly there were plenty of places to comment. Actually, I take that back as there’s currently here at the Daily Nexus but I still suspect commenting freedom here is probably due to the Daily Nexus folks being on vacation or asleep at the switch. I do hold out hope that it’s due to resurgent courage among Daily Nexus staff. Absence of commenting freedom everywhere else is a blatant example of Zionist media control. Somewhere back around 2016, the ADL told everyone to… Read more »
Rev Matching: The Art of Smooth Downshifting
Introduction
Rev matching is a driving technique used primarily in manual transmission vehicles to ensure smooth and seamless gear changes, particularly when downshifting. By synchronizing the engine speed (RPM) with the transmission speed before engaging a lower gear, rev matching reduces drivetrain shock, enhances vehicle control, and prolongs the life of the clutch and transmission components. This technique is widely used by performance drivers, motorsport enthusiasts, and everyday manual transmission users who seek a smoother driving experience.
