Two women sustained injuries in a car crash on Camino Pescadero and Sabado Tarde on Tuesday, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Department Public Information Officer Scott Safechuck.

At 6:44 p.m., an Infinity SUV drove westbound on Sabado, heading toward the southside of the intersection on Pescadero, when it collided with the two women, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Public Information Officer Jon Gutierrez. The two women experienced blunt force trauma and were lodged underneath the vehicle.
On-scene paramedics said one woman sustained major injuries and the other sustained minor injuries, Safechuck said. Ground ambulances transported them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The Nexus was unable to confirm their current condition.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured. Guiterrez said she was not impaired while driving, and that she “failed to see that there were two pedestrians.”
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the CHP. CHP could not confirm if the two pedestrians are UCSB students.
Safechuck advised people on the street to be aware of the rules of the road when going out, including looking up from a phone when crossing the street and holding onto the handlebars while biking.
