Women’s Center hosts workshop on flower bouquets 

The Women’s Center is hosting a workshop titled, “Bouquets of Self-Love,” on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 12-1 p.m. at the Student Resource Building (SRB) Multipurpose Room (MPR).

UCSB Sustainability hosts workshop on waste reduction 

UCSB Sustainability is hosting a waste reduction workshop on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 12-1 p.m. at the McCune Conference Room (room 6020) in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building in honor of National Zero Waste Month.

The event will focus on topics of regional waste management and diversion, recycling, e-waste and organic composting on campus. Representatives from Design, Facilities, and Safety Services, Department of Public Worms and Associated Students Recycling will steer the conversation. 

Environmental Justice Alliance, Pre-Law Society host environmental justice law panel

Environmental Justice Alliance and Pre-Law Society are presenting an environmental justice law panel on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. at the MultiCultural Center (MCC) Lounge. 

“Hear from a panel of guest speakers working in environmental law & justice on current environmental justice issues in the legal field,” the event description read

Office of Black Student Development begins Black Men’s Barbershop Talk Series 

The Office of Black Student Development is starting its Black Men’s Barbershop Talk Series on Friday, Jan. 26, from 5-7 p.m. at the African diasporic Cultural Resource Center. 

“We’ll be discussing the power of media representation, ways to combat harmful portrayals of black male-identified folks, and different strategies we can adopt to amplify authentic narratives,” the event description read

Food, giveaways and free haircuts will be provided.

Transfer Student Center presents “Vision Board Making”

The walk will begin at 961 Embarcadero Del Mar, and snacks will be provided after the event.

Chinese Students and Scholars Association hosts Chinese Spring Festival Gala audition 

The Chinese Students and Scholars Association is beginning the planning process for its Chinese Spring Festival Gala with auditions on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 2-7 p.m. at the Interactive Learning Pavillion 1101. 

CSSA hosts this event to help all the Chinese students to ease their pangs of homesickness and simultaneously provide all UCSB students the opportunity to closely experience the Chinese culture,” the Shoreline description read

MultiCultural Center hosts book talk with Aiden Thomas

The MCC is hosting a “dine and discuss” with bestselling, young adult author Aiden Thomas on Monday, Jan. 29, in the MCC Theater and Lounge. 

The event will feature a moderated discussion and Q&A from 5-6 p.m., a book signing from 6:15-6:45 p.m. and a community dinner from 7-8 p.m.

The MCC is requiring attendees to wear masks for its winter 2024 in-person events.

Advocacy for All Animals hosts panel on veganism 

Advocacy for All Animals is hosting a conference on topics of veganism on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 1-4 p.m. at the I.V. Community Center. 

This conference aims to inspire students to think critically about veganism from multiple perspectives, including impacts on health, concerns about speciesism, cultural histories, and considerations of the environment,” the Shoreline description read.

SexInfoOnCampus is hosting a discussion and giveaway of sex toys on Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 5-6 p.m. at Phelps Hall 2524. 

The event is part of the organization’s weekly meetings.
