Polls close at 8 p.m. and mail-in voting results will be available beginning 8:05 p.m., according to the Santa Barbara County Elections Office. All other preliminary results will be posted beginning 9 p.m. 

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 8:00 p.m]: Polls closed at 8 p.m., mail-in votes will begin to be counted and released at 8:05 p.m.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 8:17 p.m]: As of 8:11 p.m., the county has had 31,643 mail-in votes to recall Newsom from office and mail-in 65,904 votes against the recall according to the unofficial election results posted on Secretary of State Shirley Weber’s website. At least 97,547 people have voted so far.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 8:24 p.m]: As of 8:11 p.m., the state has had 1,611,195 votes to recall Newsom from office and 3,745,169 votes against the recall according to the unofficial election results posted on Secretary of State Shirley Weber’s website. A total of 5,356,364 people have voted so far.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 9:18 p.m.]: 41.01% of registered voters in Santa Barbara County voted via mail-in ballot. 

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 9:31 p.m.]: As of 9:21 p.m., the county has had 31,701 votes to recall Newsom from office and 65,941 votes against the recall, according to the unofficial election results posted on Secretary of State Shirley Weber’s website. 1.7% of precincts are partially reporting election results. 

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 9:36 p.m.]: As of 9:21 p.m., of the 1.7% of precincts that are partially reporting election results, 95 in-person ballots have been reported so far, with 37 votes against recall and 58 votes for recall according to the Santa Barbara County Elections Office.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 9:45 p.m.]: 14.78% of precincts are now reporting election results. 992 in-person ballots have been cast so far, with 486 votes for recall and 501 votes against.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 10:15 p.m.]: 26.09% of precincts are now reporting election results. 2,130 in-person ballots have been cast so far, with 1,169 votes for recall and 954 votes against.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 10:28 p.m.]: As of 10:07 p.m., 2,829,790 people throughout the state have voted to recall Gavin Newsom from office, and 5,566,816 people have voted against the recall, according to the unofficial election results posted on Secretary of State Shirley Weber’s website. At least a total of 8,396,606 people have voted so far.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 10:38 p.m.]: As of 10:35 p.m., 40% of precincts are reporting election results. 3,701 in-person votes have been cast so far, with 2,174 votes for the recall and 1,513 votes against.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 11:05 p.m.]: 49.57% of precincts are now reporting election results. 5,516 in-person votes have been cast so far, with 3,655 votes for the recall and 1,831 votes against.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 11:13 p.m]: Larry Elder conceded in the 2021 California recall election.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 11:37 p.m.]: 100% of precincts are now partially reporting election results. 7,392 in-person votes have been cast, with 5,070 votes for the recall and 2,281 votes against.

UPDATE: [9/14/2021: 11:44 p.m.]: As of 11:29 p.m., 3,054,907 people throughout the state of California have voted to recall Gavin Newsom from office, and 5,708,639 people have voted against the recall, according to the unofficial election results posted on Secretary of State Shirley Weber’s website. At least 8,763,546 people have voted so far.
