Santa Barbara County Fire Department officials responded to a fire at Breakpointe Apartments, located at 6690 Abrego Road, at about 1:21 p.m. yesterday afternoon.

Officials from the UCSB Police Department, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and the Gas Company managed to contain the fire — which affected areas located on the third floor of the complex — at approximately 1:35 p.m. While no one was injured and the primarily affected unit was unoccupied, residents in adjoining apartments were evacuated from the building and the incident is still under investigation.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel searched for victims while extinguishing the flames, leaving the building with moderate heat and smoke damage once the fire was contained.
