The Goleta City Council will consider the possibility of purchasing the nearby Glen Annie Golf Club and discuss a city-wide ban on single-use plastic carryout bags at today’s weekly meeting.

The Goleta City Council may place a bid today on the privately owned Glen Annie Golf Course. The Club has already received and declined several bids of up to $7.2 million.
As of now, the current owners have turned down offers up to $7 million; however, the Council’s agenda states that a previous $7.2 million bid was almost successful.
Council members will also discuss banning plastic carryout bags from Goleta businesses. Members hope to eliminate waste, preserve resources and promote a more eco-friendly city.
According to the agenda, arguments from the opposition are expected for both items.
