County detectives began investigating a possible homicide this weekend after deputies discovered a man’s body in a Buellton apartment.

Deputies arrived at the apartment Saturday night to check on Hector Vicente Monzon after a friend notified the sheriff’s department he was unable to contact Monzon. As of press time, the department has not released a cause of death, pending conclusive evidence.

According to a press release, Monzon lived with two roommates, Jesus Chulin Cerecedo and Miguel Gomez Gomez, who are wanted for questioning. Neither roommate has returned to the apartment since the investigation began.

Monzon, who worked as a landscaper, was last seen alive early Saturday morning and believed to have been killed sometime that day. According to the release, investigators are currently seeking both roommates for questioning as well as other possible suspects.

In addition to the two roommates, detectives are also searching for a vehicle, a 1995 GMC black Jimmy, California license plate 6JNE557.
