A suspect has been arrested for a double-homicide that took place in the early hours of Monday morning in Santa Barbara.
Fifty-year-old Corey John Lyons was taken into custody shortly after police discovered the bodies of the suspect’s brother, 55-year-old Daniel Lyons, and 48-year-old Barbara Lorene Scharton, aged 48, in their two-story home at 621 Aurora Avenue.
According to a police report, officers responded to the scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. yesterday after neighbors called and reported hearing five or six gunshots and the sound of broken glass coming from the residence. When police arrived, they saw a broken window on the second story of the home. Several calls made to the home were unanswered, and a S.W.A.T. team was ordered to the scene, the report said.
When the S.W.A.T. team arrived and entered the residence, they discovered the two victims, who had both suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
The police have not released any further information regarding the suspect or on a possible motive for the murder.
