A 22-year old man was stabbed five times at a party on the 6700 block of Sueno Road late Friday night.

Although the victim was stabbed in the cheek, chest and torso area, Isla Vista Foot Patrol Senior Deputy Doug Jones said the wounds were not life threatening. Authorities are still searching for the perpetrator.

Despite his wounds, the victim – who police described as uncooperative – was driven to Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital by a private party rather than an ambulance. By the time IVFP officers arrived at the scene around 11:40 p.m., the victim was already gone, Jones said.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Dept. spokesman Sgt. Alex Tipolt said detectives are not yet sure if the stabbing was gang-related. He said the victim has refused to cooperate with police.

“The problem is the victim was uncooperative,” Tipolt said. “For us to do a full-blown investigation, it makes it difficult.”

The IVFP is still investigating the matter.
