Beer aficionados ready for unique local flavors can now quench their thirst at a newly opened brewpub in Goleta.

Hollister Brewing Company, co-owned by Larry Kreider, Marshall Rose and son Eric Rose, opened its doors Sunday in the Camino Real Marketplace with an eclectic menu of foods and a diverse assortment of beers, wines and spirits. Seven house beers are currently offered at the brewery, each crafted by co-owner and Eric Rose – a self-taught, award-winning brewmaster.

Aside from the current selection of house brews, the brewpub also offers a variety of uncommon spirits, local wines and five guest beers on tap.

“We’ve acquired some beers you won’t find anywhere else around here,” Kreider, the former owner of Santa Barbara Brewing Company and co-owner of Elements Restaurant & Bar said. “We’re kind of proud of the guest taps we showcase.”

Kreider said the Brewing Company has plans to include up to five more in-house brews, including a few seasonal ones. In-house brews are offered at $4 a pint at the restaurant, and glasses of wine are priced below $10.

To accompany the choice of beers, Kreider said they crafted their menu to be as unique as the beers they offer.

“Our menu is fresh, innovative – not the normal deep-fried pub grub,” Kreider said.

The interior of the brewing company, which replaced Camino Real Cafe, was designed from scratch, Kreider said, using recycled ceramic tiles and tabletops made from pressed sunflower seeds. Kreider said the owners constructed the brewpub with the environment in mind.

The menu also features sustainable local foods, which according to Kreider are purchased from the farmer’s market every Sunday.

Kreider, who moved from Pennsylvania 12 years ago to open the Santa Barbara Brewing Company at the corner of State and Haley streets downtown, said he opened the Hollister Brewing Company to satisfy employees of the growing businesses in Goleta. “We try to endear ourselves to the local community.”

According to Kreider, the brewing company will also cater to UCSB students who live in the area.

“We do appreciate students who appreciate a craft-made product,” Kreider said.

Since opening its doors, success of the restaurant has been “a little overwhelming,” said Kreider. “We are both humbled and flattered from the response we’ve gotten from the Goleta community.”

Located at 6980 Marketplace Dr., Hollister Brewing Company is open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with happy hour between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
