While most UCSB students spent their Spring Break resting and relaxing, deputies at the Isla Vista Foot Patrol spent the week dealing with burglaries and broken windows.

IVFP Lt. Sol Linver said the overall amount of crime in I.V. during the break was about average, but deputies from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Dept. did arrest a convicted burglar on Sunday, March 26, after he attempted to steal money from six local stores. The foot patrol also investigated a large number of broken windows in I.V., which Linver said he believes may have been caused by a single suspect wielding a BB gun. As of Monday afternoon, the IVFP was also investigating three reports from students whose homes were burglarized during Spring Break.
